Addressing land scarcity, cross-border functional areas (e.g., Greater Region), and framing land allocation not just as a technical issue, but as a contested socio-political field of democratic governance and spatial justice. Institutional resilience drawing on CIVINET, EPLO, and DAFNI (Greek islands) to explore how participatory planning, multi-level governance, and local authority capacity keep transport mandates alive through election cycles and peripheral/insular challenges. As our early registered delegates will be aware, Navigate Mobility 2026 was originally planned as an in-person conference in Prague on 8–9 October 2026. The core objective of the conference remains to bring together a balanced group of senior urban mobility decision-makers from public authorities, municipalities, industry, and academia.
However, travel approval processes within municipal and public-sector organisations have been taking considerably longer than anticipated. Given the October timeline, this created a risk that the in-person audience would be disproportionately represented by industry, while fewer city officials and public-sector decision-makers would be able to attend. This would have undermined the balance that is central to the conference and to the quality of the discussions we aim to create.
To safeguard the value of your time and financial commitment, we have realigned our 2026–2027 calendar around three practical considerations:
1. Aligning with Public Sector Timelines: Lengthy Q4 public-sector travel approvals risked compromising delegate density. Rescheduling the Prague conference to 11–12 March 2027 aligns directly with fresh Q1 municipal budget allocations.
